First of all, we want you to know that we have never, since the inception of the club, made money off of shipping. In fact, we have yet to break even on shipping; it continues to cost us more to package and ship items than we take in to cover shipping charges. We understand that shipping charges can seem high, but the fact is that shipping is expensive.
We have contracted with UPS for the very best rates we can get, but until we are doing several thousands of dollars a month in shipping fees alone, we will not be able to get lower rates than we are getting right now. In addition to the actual fee we pay to ship the items to you, we also have a weekly fee, pick up charges, the cost to purchase boxes, the cost of packaging, labels, printing, and we still have not paid anyone for actually standing there packing and shipping your box out. We are not Amazon.com or CTMH or even a large online scrapbook store, so we do not get the kind of discounts that they receive.
We firmly believe that the fact that our prices are lower than just about anywhere else - online or off - that our customers understand shipping and handling fees and charges and are willing to pay a few dollars extra to get the great deals that we offer, and we have found for the most part this is very true; however we do still receive several emails a week asking us about our shipping charges so here is our official shipping policy.
We ship all items via UPS or USPS, so our minimum shipping charge is $5.25. We will not ship an item for less than $5.25 even if it is one small item, so please take the minimum shipping and handling fee into account when placing an order.
Our shipping charges are based on a combination of a percentage of item total and zip code. The majority of the time our shipping fees are pretty accurate, but occasionally, we'll have a sale that focuses on expensive but lightweight items. When this happens the result is often excess shipping charges. If your shipping charge is $10 or more than what the actual shipping charges are, we will refund you the difference. For example, if you pay $35 for shipping but it only cost $25 for us to actually ship it, we will refund you $10. If you paid $45 in shipping charges and it actually cost us $25 to ship it, we will refund you $20.
We are not eBay; combining shipments does not get you a shipping discount. If we combine two orders into one box and your shipping fees total $10 or more than the actual shipping fees, we will refund you the difference as outlined above.
If you underpay shipping fees for $10 or more on any order, you will be asked to pay the extra shipping charges before your item ships. If you refuse to pay the extra shipping charges, your entire order will be refunded and will not ship.
We will not cheat on customs forms and declarations. Canadian orders cost more to ship. We charge a $10 surcharge on all Canadian orders to help cover the cost of shipping. This fee is NOT related to customs fees, and is not applied to any customs charges. We will not lie and say that your order is a gift, we will not under-estimate the cost of items to help you avoid customs duty taxes. The same refund/payment structure as stated above also applies to Canadian orders.
